George Vavatsis (b. 1974) is a Greek ceramic artist based in Thessaloniki. He studied Visual and Live Art at the University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham, from 1995 to 1998. In 2000 he returned to Thessaloniki and established his workshop, where he continues to work. His ceramic works have been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad, and he has participated in ceramic symposia throughout Europe and Asia. He received the First Prize at the 50th Panhellenic Ceramic Competition, Athens (2012), and the First Prize at the 1st Biennale of Contemporary Ceramics, Santorini (2024). Alongside his artistic practice, he teaches ceramics in institutions and studios across Greece and regularly in his own studio. In 2013 he founded the ceramic production company Hakah Ceramics Design Production, specializing in stoneware tableware and drinkware. In 2017 he established 6exi Contemporary Ceramics, a project space in Thessaloniki hosting national and international invited artists. He has been a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece, Athens, since 2011; Artaxis since 2018; and the International Academy of Ceramics, Geneva, since 2021.
