Loukia Thomopoulou

Loukia Thomopoulou is the founder and Artistic Director of the Biennale of Contemporary Keramics (BCK)—the first international ceramics biennale in Greece. Through this initiative, she has created a platform that connects contemporary ceramists with an international audience and the global artistic discourse. With a professional background in Information and Management Systems, she built a career in the shipping industry in Greece and New York. In 2011, she shifted her focus to ceramics, studying with leading Greek ceramists. She also holds a certificate in Art Curation from the Sotheby’s Institute. She is the founder of Sealed Earth Ceramics Studio and Gallery in Athens, a creative hub that integrates production, education, networking, and exhibition. Through artist residencies, workshops, and seminars, the studio promotes innovation, exchange, and community within the field of contemporary ceramics. As a curator, she specializes in site-specific exhibitions that integrate ceramic practice with spatial and conceptual narratives, highlighting the potential of ceramics within the contemporary artistic context.
