Zois’s work draws inspiration from the very moment of the volcanic eruption, capturing its essence through ceramic pieces. Just as volcanic ash covers and preserves objects until they are brought back to light, his collection attempts a raw interpretation of the event, opening a window into the past. It encompasses a specific point in time – a snapshot of the eruption – in which a dance-like ceremony freezes forever, reflecting the life and energy abruptly suspended by the destruction. Eye on the Cake urges us to focus on the pivotal moment, as one focuses on the moment of culmination of any event.
